ROOKIES AND DEVELOPMENT

As a coach of young talent, you’re always looking at how to improve the athlete and enhance the development process. A lot of the time, which I’m sure many parents and coaches would agree with you only wish “little Johnny” would listen! In my position it’s a common experience and to witness the unspoken tension between a parent and child is adelicate dynamic,which can be both constructive and destructive. I’m not about to profess to have the answers in those terms, and this article isn’t about relationship building, but rather, more to the point of addressing the type of mentality which builds foundations in young athletic talent, while possibly including some first hand anecdotal evidence.
